Mind if I friend you? I'm currently writing a story that involves a fictional police academy and I think there might be some overlap. (If nothing else, some of the cadets have prior experience in the USAF, which could become relevant.) And writing Batman fanfic, medical issues usually do crop up also.

I actually have one now. Parameters: I want the guy to be well enough to be discharged from the hospital and physically able to return to the police academy in a few days time (even if he won't be necessarily able to run laps or do pushups, yet.) For the record, he's actually going to be expelled, but he won't know that until his return. So, I want him to not only be physically able to concentrate/sit in a classroom/focus, but also have every reason to believe that in a couple of months, he'll be nearly back to normal if he isn't already.

That being said:

After having 4 shots of alcohol in two hours and a BAC of 0.096, character gets behind the wheel and crashes directly into a plate glass window across the street. He won't have been going more than 5 mph. Airbag deploys, but the guy wasn't wearing his seatbelt.

There are witnesses when he crashes, one of whom has had some first aid training and knows that pulling the character out of the car runs the risk of injuring his spine. Someone else will call 911 and, since this is downtown in a major city, EMTs will be there in under 5 minutes.

What kind of injuries can I give him?
