original fiction beta swap/critique partners
fandoms: original only
genres: speculative fiction (mostly fantasy: urban fantasy, portal fantasy), contemporary, humor, LGBT+ themes, coming-of-age
formats: short stories, poetry, kidlit novel wip
rating & warnings: PG-13, max; warnings vary by story
notes: I'm hoping to find a critique partner for original work.
genres: any, but my particular focus is on speculative fiction (for short stories and poetry) and children's literature (picture books and chapter books)
strengths: I'm an elementary school librarian; I know what my students are reading and what I (and other librarians) might be looking for in kidlit these days. (I'm not tooting my own horn; multiple people at my local in-person critique exchange have said this is a valuable perspective.)
limits: I'm not interested in reading anything above and R-rating, and my market knowledge only goes up through middle grade, maybe a little YA. I am only interested in beta reading original work, though I am happy to cheer for your fanfic from the sidelines, too.
other notes: I am not a hugely prolific writer, so if you're looking for an accountability partner, I'm not sure how much I can help you… but if you want someone to send your first draft hot off the presses for some encouragement and gentle suggestions about where to focus when you're ready to edit, I'm your gal.
(I contacted the community moderator for permission to change up the forms!)
